Possibly one of the most looked over destinations, Sri Lanka is a treasure island and home to a wealth of experiences for Muslim travellers. The island has a long and rich history, starting life as the island of Serendib, then Ceylon and to its present name of Sri Lanka. With a minority Muslim population, you’ll find mosques dotted in most towns and cities with Sri Lankan halal cuisine a unique combination of the east and sub-continent.

Colombo is your main entry point to the island, and the city is perfect for a day or two to explore the rising popularity of old meeting new. For beach seekers, Sri Lanka has plenty of choices. From May to September, head to the east coast, with its white beaches and calm waters. From October to April, the southern and western coast enjoys the best weather. There is also something for everyone in Sri Lanka, from the Shangri-la Hambantota for Muslim families to the Anantara Kalutara for those looking for a halal friendly honeymoon.

Looking to do a tour to see a mixture of safari, history, culture and more? Then Sri Lanka is the destination for you. Being a one island destination it is quite unique with the range of sights it has to offer. On the private tours we offer that range from 5 - 10 days or more, you can easily combine a safari at Minneriya, take a train up to Tea Country to Nuwara Eliya,  climb Sigiriya Rock and tour the Cultural Triangle. For longer tours, head down south to Yala National Park for a 2 day safari. Home to elephants, leopards and more!. Continue west and enjoy a beach stay at the Anantara Tangalle, Shangri La Hambantota or Buckingham Place. For the ultimate luxury combine a stay at the gorgeous Amanwella in its spectacular beachfront bay location near Tangalle with its sister property the Amangalla in nearby Galle. The coastal city of Galle has a beautiful setting with its old walls and boutique stores in the old fort. From Galle head back up north towards Colombo passing the beach resorts of Kalutara and Bentota, home to resorts by Anantara and Avani respectively.

Highlights

Wherever you are along the coast of Sri Lanka, you’ll be able to explore so much the island has to offer. Yala National Park is home to some of the best leopard sighting opportunities and is easily accessible from Tangalle or Hambantota. The Udawalawe national park is home to the Born Free Foundation run elephant sanctuary, where you can responsibly view the magnificent Asian elephants and learn about their habitat. The southern town of Galle is steeped in history, with its fortified walls remaining from the Dutch occupation in the 16th century.

If you enjoy scenic journeys, then a visit to the hill stations of Nuwara Eliya, home to the tea country is well worth a visit and even an overnight stay at one of the English mansion houses such as the Grand Hotel. Take a step back in time to colonial England, where tea was the gold of the time. Further south of Nuwara Eliya, the beautiful Tea Trails resort is truly unique on the shores of Castlereagh Reservoir.
