Canada’s vast landscapes are home to hundreds of rivers, lakes, mountains thousands of miles of pristine coastline along both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The Rocky Mountains stretch over 3,000 miles from British Columbia in Canada’s west all the way down to New Mexico in the southern U.S.
These great mountain ranges are 760 million years old and an integral part of Canada’s landscape, providing beautiful lakes and white waters. No matter who you’re travelling with or if you’re going solo, if you’re the adventurous type the Rocky Mountains provide a canvas for you to experience everything from skiing to white water rafting to fishing. This include the famous Trail Ridge Road, a 48-mile path which reaches 12,183ft above sea level at its highest point.

Muslim Friendly Amenities

In recent years Islam has become the fastest growing religion in Canada, with Muslims making up 3.2% of the population. If you’re lucky enough to visit Niagara Falls, Casablanca Restaurant is just a 15-minute stroll away and offers a full halal menu in an alcohol-free environment. Another highly recommended eatery is the Lebanese style bakery Al-Baghdadi Pastry which is commended for its traditional middle eastern food and highly accommodating service and friendly atmosphere. Lastly, the 24-hour St Viateur Bagel Shop in Montreal is famously known for its halal sweet and savoury bagel filling which is reasonably priced and sold by the dozen to last you all week.

With at least half a dozen mosques in all the major cities, you will not be short for prayer facilities in Canada. There is also a range of Muslim friendly hotels such as Super 8 which provides a prayer mat and halal meals on request, as well as a non-alcoholic mini bar and a useful guide to halal friendly restaurants in the local area.
Air Canada and British Airways offer direct flights to Toronto, while Air France, Lufthansa, Delta and KLM are amongst several indirect options. All provide halal friendly meals on request up to 48 hours before your flight is due to depart.

Places to see

On the Eastern part of the country, the world-famous Niagara Falls is actually composed of three waterfalls; the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls, all of which tumble approximately 170 feet straight down before hitting the foaming river below at the border of the province of Ontario and the state of New York. This glorious spectacle will leave you awestruck in its plumes of mist, especially if you’re brave enough to try a ride of the Maid of the Mist or energetic enough to hike its many miles of

To really understand Canada’s love for sport, try to catch an ice hockey game. The 21,000-seater Centre Bell in Montreal is home to Canada’s most successful domestic team, the Montreal Canadians, whose skill on the ice will leave you awestruck. Tickets start from around $150 dollars, or £85 per person, but are well worth the outlay. In Quebec, Hôtel de Glace is something right out of a fairy-tale; a hotel made completely of ice which is destroyed and rebuilt every year in painstaking detail. With a vast range of climates and experiences across the country, Canada allows for an abundance of opportunities, whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures or to dive deep into traditions and cultural specialities of the friendly country.
