Abu Dhabi is home to over two thousand mosques, the most in the UAE and the largest mosque in the country. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was constructed by over 3,000 workers between 1996 and 2007. Covering approximately 30 acres, its vast exterior is a prelude to the beautiful architecture you will witness within. The mosque includes 96 great marble pillars in its main prayer hall alone. The building itself is made up of a combination of crystal, gold, marble and stone. So sublime, it has up to 41,000 visitors at the time of Eid and is also one of the only two mosques open to non-Muslims tourists, as long as modest clothing rules are abided.
