Serving as the primary base for the expanding Etihad Airways, the Abu Dhabi International Airport is becoming increasingly popular with 30 different airlines, flying to 100 destinations in more than 50 countries. It is located approximately 30 km east of the city and spread over a vast area of 3,400 hectares. It consists of three terminals, and a 24-hour, air-conditioned bus service operates from all of them. The buses have a 45 minutes’ journey time to the city and depart every 40 minutes. Metered taxis can also be found, that reduce the Muslim travel time to 35 minutes but are heavier on the pocket.
Halal Facilities
Each terminal has clearly marked separate prayer rooms for men and women. The multi-faith room for prayer depicts the country’s respect and acceptance for all kinds of faiths. Wudu rooms are also available making it easier for Muslims to prepare for their daily prayers. From full-service restaurants to fast food outlets, every eatery at the airport serves halal food since UAE is a Muslim-majority country. There is a full range of Arabic and international cuisine making halal dining a stress-free and enjoyable experience for all Muslim families.
