Serving as the primary base for the expanding Etihad Airways, the Abu Dhabi International Airport is becoming increasingly popular with 30 different airlines, flying to 100 destinations in more than 50 countries. It is located approximately 30 km east of the city and spread over a vast area of 3,400 hectares.
It consists of three terminals, and a 24-hour, air-conditioned bus service operates from all of them. The buses have a 45 minutes’ journey time to the city and depart every 40 minutes. Metered taxis can also be found, that reduce the Muslim travel time to 35 minutes but are heavier on the pocket.
